If your kids want to learn how to perform on stage and work behind the scenes in a supportive environment with professional guidance, one place they can do that is with the FSA Performing Arts Group at TECCS in Jersey City, NJ.

On Tuesday, February 27th The Ethical Community Charter School (TECCS in Jersey City) received a very special visit from Tony nominated actor Euan Morton who plays King George lll in Hamilton on Broadway!

Euan talked to the students about his career on Broadway and then mentored the TECCS performing arts students with vocal instruction to help prepare them for their upcoming show Seize The Day which opens on April 18th with three performances. Most of the students love the music from Hamilton but have never seen the show, and for some of the kids this visit might have been the closest they get to ever seeing Hamilton or meeting a Broadway star.

Last year, the TECCS FSA (Family School Association) added the "FSA PERFORMING ARTS" to their umbrella. The FSA is a parent led school group that subsidizes school funding and student enrichment programs using funds they raise through annual events including their Annual Gala and "Read, Write & Run 5K" race in Liberty State Park. The performing arts program is an after school program which has grown in leaps and bounds in only one year. The FSA Performing Arts Team at TECCS is lead by volunteer parents who have some kind of formal arts training. The group does their own fundraising in order to bring in industry professionals who will educate, train and encourage the students in all areas of performance. This semester they are thrilled to be able to give students the opportunity to work with actress and vocal coach Molly Dunn of Singing with Molly. Molly will be co-directing Seize the Day and has worked with students ages 4-70, of all different performing levels. Her students have performed on and off Broadway, in national commercials, regional theatres, TV Shows, and more. She also helps her students get scholarships to the top musical theatre programs in the county.

Next fall, FSA Performing Arts plans to make their first film and has signed on well known New York casting director Meagan Rafferty and are in talks to partner with a film production company also from New York. They are currently looking for people to join the producing team. If you are interested in hearing more contact artsfsa@teccsjc.org.

The FSA Performing Arts program is unique and strives always to do more and always bring the best possible opportunities to students to gain self confidence and enjoyment through the arts.
